The most outstanding experiences that
Norway has to offer

The community of Skjolden has shops, a hotel and many attractions and activities in the vicinity.

Here are some of the experiences available to you:

- Take an eventful glacier tour in Jotunheimen
or on Jostedalsbreen – the largest glacier  on
the European mainland.

- Take an exciting glacier journey through 20,000
years at the Breheimsenteret, the Visitor’s Centre
for the Jostedalsbreen National Park.

- National Road no. 55 over Sognefjellet is the
highest and perhaps the most impressive
mountain pass
in Northern Europe. The road’s
highest point is 1,430 metres above sea level.

- At Sognefjell Sommerskisenter (Sognefjell
summer skiing centre) you can ski during the
summer
– at a height of over 1,400 metres.
You can also go hiking, both in the mountains
and by the fjord.

- There are many rivers and lakes with excellent opportunities to fish for trout and salmon.
You can also hunt for grouse, stag and wild
reindeer. In Sognefjorden you may fish freely
with a rod and handline.

- Urnes stave church is on UNESCO’s list of
World Heritage Sites and is Norway’s oldest
stave church
.

- Feigumfossen (Feigum waterfall), on the
south side of Lusterfjorden, is one of Norway’s
highest waterfalls
and is an overwhelming
experience close up.

- From 2007, Skjolden is Western Norway’s
new port of call for cruise ships. You have
a full view from Skjolden Brygge.
